Virgin Care currently provides the Integrated Children’s Service (ICS) in Devon, including public health nursing, children’s mental health services and support for children in Devon with additional needs.
The new service will support school staff to develop their knowledge of mental health conditions affecting young people, the symptoms to look for and strategies for supporting children with early signs of mental and emotional stress.
The service will also provide mental health consultation to develop and promote clear referral pathways for school staff so that where more specialised support is needed, it can be accessed effectively and efficiently.
Together, this will enable schools to better support the children in their care while promoting good mental health and awareness of mental health issues more generally.
Virgin Care will provide additional Primary Mental Health Workers to deliver support, consultation and training for educational staff across all Devon maintained schools, Academies, and Free Schools.
As part of the service, each school will be asked to appoint an Emotional Health and Wellbeing Champion who will be responsible for liaising with the EH4MH school support team for consultation and access to training.
Every eligible school in Devon will be contacted by the EH4MH school support team for an initial consultation. This will be an opportunity to share thoughts about the level of need in the school, the existing support processes already in place, and the areas for further development and improvement.
These conversations will shape the way in which the service is delivered over the life of the contract.
If you want to pursue this offer in your school then please contact Sarah Lewis – firstname.lastname@example.org
